FOS‑001 · Baixada · One garment

Keep going

Collection 001

The Baixada is the low country on the edge of Rio. Flat, hot, and largely unphotographed.

Everyone calls him Nénem. He is fifty‑one years old. His name is on the door of his shop and I have never read it.

Film 010

He poured me a beer I didn't order. I drank it. He poured another. Neither of us has said a word in an hour and this is the closest I've felt to anyone all year.

Film 004

The bass arrived before the sound did. I felt it in the window first. Then the floor. Then my chest.

Film 005

One shirt came out of it.

A mossy stone pedestal in a rainforest clearing high above Rio de Janeiro, Christ the Redeemer and Guanabara Bay hazy in the distance at golden hour. The black Baixada tee with cream long sleeves, printed with a jaguar formed from the word Baixada and the line: You met me at a very Brazilian time in my life.

FOS‑001 · The Baixada Tee

You met me at a very Brazilian time in my life.

A jaguar built entirely from the word BAIXADA, printed tonal so you only catch it on second look. The line sits across its legs in the same serif the films use.

The garment

Body

Oversized boxy fit. Heavyweight cotton, dropped shoulders, wide ribbed crew neck, slightly cropped body. Cut to be worn loose.

Sleeves

Built‑in double layer. Black short sleeve over a cream long sleeve with ribbed cuffs. One garment, not two.

Print

Direct‑to‑garment. Ink goes into the cotton rather than sitting on it, so there is no plastic layer and nothing to peel.

Care

Cold, inside out, no dryer. The print will soften and fade slowly. It is supposed to.
